Squirrels in house soffits. Does soffits open to attic?

I heard noise in my soffits, and then I found a broken brick where the soffit attaches. Now, worry if a squirrel family live in my soffits or attic, and I may need to chase them out from the soffits, and from attic, before sealing the hole. Thanks.Squirrels in house soffits. a soffit by definition is: he underside of a structural component, such as a beam, arch, staircase, or cornice.

Here is a website that might help on squirrels in the attic:

If you know where they are getting in, good. If you can get into the attic area put up some bright lights and obnoxious music on a radio channel. The idea is to surround them so that they will go back through the entrance hole and not move further into your home. They are coming in for qiuet and darkness. They are active in the daytime, but do make sure you remove any nests with babies and place the entire nest outside in an old plant hanger or other container with drainage so the parents will continue to tend to them. Hopefully they have not nested yet and it will be simple. Use hardware cloth or other touch wire to block them re-entering the home.
