Yes, you can build a nest box for squirrels. They are similar to birdhouses, except that the hole is drilled on the side of the box, rather than the front.

The squirrel house is a ball of dead leaves, sticks and other things with a hole that they can go in through on one side.. the bird nest is a hole on the top of the oval shaped nest where they lay the eggs. so you can kind of make it the same way but the entrance has to be in diff spots.
